Between this, Hamlet and Julius Caesar i’d say that this was my least favorite to read, but at the same time I think this would be the best to see performed. Usually in a play there is a build up to a dramatic moment but The Tempest opens with this and the dramatic moment is when there is the inevitability of death. I’d like to see a bit more treatment of Stephano and Trinculo, who help Caliban appear in more scenes throughout the play and also serve (it would seem) to provide much of the comic relief.
